Tianhua Yulu Cake, a pastry not seen in the market for a long time, is now protected as Baoshan’s intangible cultural heritage.

Baoshan held an Intangible Cultural Heritage Demonstration Week on June 9, showing many items including Tianhua Yulu Cake, a kind of snack which was once quite popular in the past, but not seen in the market for a long time.

After conducting a survey, the Baoshan department for intangible cultural heritage protection decided to bring back the delight.

The history of the cake can date back to a food grocery store in Luodian, Baoshan more than 150 years ago. It is said that the Emperor of Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) visited the grocery once and praised the cake. Ever since then, the cake had been listed as a royal treat for many years.
