Located in Gucun, Shanghai Baoshan World Foreign Language School (hereinafter referred to as BWFL) is a 12-year full-time private school founded by Shanghai World Foreign Language (WFL) Education Group, a subsidiary of JuneYao Group. Adhering to the idea of ‘Let the World be Part of the School, Let Students Embrace the World’, BWFL constantly constructs a 3C curriculum system with cross-domain integration, cross-culture understanding, cross-time and space flying.

BWFL enriches students’ experience of cross-domain integration with the help of project-based learning.

Primary school adopts the 4 + 1 curriculum model, that is, four days of subject learning and one day of interdisciplinary project-based learning. Learning involves the knowledge points of multiple disciplines, and students master the core knowledge and skills of multiple disciplines by studying and dealing with a real, attractive and complex problem or challenge. In the past year, the primary school has carried out six projects, including my campus treasure code, healthy life, shadow puppetry, small meteorologist, where the magical animals are, and 3R project.

Middle school has organized 13 interdisciplinary projects for the past year, including USAP, Rube Goldberg Machine, 7-day e-Learning of Hexi Corridor, Creative Writing Exchange, Museum of the Tang Dynasty, A Glimpse of The Three Masters of the Renaissance, Blind-friendly Facility Design, “How to” Brochure Competition, A Survey of Writers living in Shanghai during the Republic of China (1912-1949), Class Concert of Soundtrack. Class Festival, Dream Field Project, Self-discipline Project, etc. Among them, the American Academic Pentathlon Team, composed of 18 sixth-grade students, participated in the national finals and won multiple awards.

BWFL promotes students’ cross-culture understanding in an all-round way by providing diverse courses and offering rich hands-on activities.

When the little story meets the best-teller, what will happen? The online English Story-Telling Competition is held online. 12 Grade One finalists captivated the audience with their beautiful pronunciation and energetic performance.

l  August 21-Culture Exchange

On August 21,2020, Du Yayuan, a student from Class 1, Grade 7, participated in an exchange activity organized by SSP Shanghai Student English Newspaper with the Culture and Education Department of the German Consulate General in Shanghai, and interviewed Dr. Oliver Hardman, Director of the Culture and Education Department of the German Consulate General in Shanghai.

l  1 September, 2020-BWFL Diverse Courses

Since the new semester, the school has offered drama courses in both primary and middle school. Through drama games and small story performances, primary students understand the cultural background of different characters; Through short plays and script writing, middle school students enhance their cross-culture understanding. Besides that, middle school offers such second foreign language courses as French and Japanese and journalism literacy courses to broaden students’ horizons.

l  BWFL offers Jixiang courses to encourage students to explore the mysteries of space flight and cultivate innovative scientific and technological capabilities.

During the epidemic home period, technical engineering teachers organized sixth grade students to explore aircraft models, students used folding, tearing, kneading, cutting, pasting and other ways to create a very creative paper aircraft model works.

With "3C" courses, BWFL strives to create a rich learning environment and a diverse experience space so as to help every child spread their wings to fully explore the world and future.
