At the World Humanoid Robot Games, Shanghai Gaoyi Technology Co., Ltd.—a wholly owned subsidiary of Unitree Robotics based in Miaohang Town, Baoshan District—took home two gold medals with its humanoid robots Unitree H1 and Unitree G1. The company clinched first place in the 400-meter final with a time of 1 minute 28.03 seconds and the 100-meter obstacle race in 33.71 seconds.

Shanghai Gaoyi Technology, as Unitree’s wholly owned subsidiary, is dedicated to high-end robotics R&D. Its product line already covers hybrid wheeled-legged robots, heavy-duty quadrupeds, and general-purpose humanoid robots.

The Unitree H1, released in 2023, is Unitree’s first general-purpose humanoid robot. It gained wide public attention when it performed a traditional dance during the 2025 CCTV Spring Festival Gala. Equipped with Unitree’s self-developed high-torque joint motors and other core components, the H1 is tall, athletic, and capable of advanced movements such as flips. Combined with general-purpose AI, it is designed for a wide range of industrial and service applications. Launched in 2024, the Unitree G1 is smaller but more versatile. With higher degrees of freedom and dexterous robotic hands, it can perform complex movements beyond human capability and execute precise grasping tasks, making it especially suited for home and everyday environments.

In July 2024, Baoshan District, Shanghai University, and Unitree Robotics signed a strategic cooperation agreement to deepen collaboration across government, academia, and enterprise. The partnership focuses on advancing technological innovation, fostering talent, and positioning Baoshan as a leading hub for general-purpose intelligent robotics. At the signing ceremony, Unitree founder Wang Xingxing was appointed as Baoshan’s Chief Expert on Robotics and Intelligent Manufacturing.

In February 2025, the SHU General Intelligent Robotics Research Institute officially opened at Building 9, Phase I of the Nanda Digital Smart Oasis in Baoshan. The institute brings together research groups in integrated sensing-control systems, flexible robotics, and advanced testing methods, creating a joint platform for scientific research, training, and innovation.
