“It is very meaningful to hold a family marathon that allows families to participate together on such a loving day as Mother’s Day. As a sportsman, and as a father and husband, I am very happy to take the lead in such an event.” On May 14, Olympic boxing champion Zou Shiming came to Gucun Park in Baoshan to actively lead a series of activities themed “2023 Power Dekor · Family Marathon (Shanghai Station) and International Day of Families (May 15)”. This is also the second time that he has come to the family marathon spot to interact with the participating families.

At 8:30 a.m., with the sound of a starting gun, the 2023 Power Dekor · Family Marathon officially started in the Forest Leisure Park of Gucun Park. 800 families dressed in uniform ran for love together and enjoyed the warm and unforgettable parent-child time. Parents rushed out of the starting line with their children, passing through Meiren Road, Cherry Blossom Avenue, Piaoxue Road and Yuelin Lake, with a total length of about 4.2 kilometers. Children of all ages run along the Chinese Rose Road that symbolizes happiness and hope, enjoy the beautiful scenery of the track, experience the fun of outdoor running, and feel the magic and beauty of our nature.

A wealth of parent-child carnival activities were set up at the event site, such as Obstacle Course, Rowing Machine, Parent-Child Games, Health Knowledge Contest, etc., which not only attracted children’s interest, but also helped parents regain their childhood fun. In addition, Baoshan District Health Commission specially prepared carnations, and invited children from participating families to send Mother’s Day blessings to their mothers to express their respect and gratitude.

It is reported that this year is the eighth year of Baoshan District’s cooperation with the event of family marathon. In the past eight years, more and more families have joined the team of “Running Together with Love and Companionship”. The registration form of the event has also changed from first-come-first-served mode to lottery. A total of 1,230 families participated in the registration, of which 800 families won the bid, with a winning rate of 65%, which fully shows that more and more families began to pay attention to health, sports, love and companionship.

In the future, Baoshan District Sports Bureau will continue to actively organize events with wide audience, high participation and various forms, and build a national fitness event system from amateur to professional type, from children to adults, as well as suitable for different ages and different groups of people, so as to show the image of Baoshan to all walks of life and convey correct sports concepts through these events.
