The week of May 15-21 this year is the second National Family Education Promotion Week. On May 17, the opening ceremony of 2023 Baoshan District Family Education Promotion Week was held in Wisdom Bay with the theme of “Happy Learning in Baoshan—Lifelong Learning for the Future”, which is also one of the series activities of the 19th National Lifelong Learning Week in Baoshan.

Family is the first classroom of one’s life, and parents are the first teachers of children. At the opening ceremony, the sitcom “Family with Love, Teaching with Skills” reproduced the daily educational scenes and common educational modes of the family, and made a correct demonstration through targeted analysis and guidance by family education instructors.

As an “experimental zone of Tao Xingzhi’s educational ideology”, Baoshan District is committed to thinking about how to practice Mr. Tao’s ideas, break fixed patterns, and explore effective family education guidelines, so as to promote the establishment of a family education support service system. On the micro forum, four guests from Baoshan District Women’s Federation, Shanghai Baoshan Sparetime University, Baoshan District School-Family Education Research and Guidance Center, and Shanghai Gaojing Science Elementary School shared and discussed how to carry out collaborative education among family, school and society around the topic of “Contribution, Shared Benefits and Co-education—Collaborative Education Based on Family Education”.

This year, to integrate the advantages of educational resources of all parties, build an interaction platform for family education, and create a professional team for family education, Baoshan District set up the “Baoshan Parent School Research and Training Center”, and selected 17 base units to jointly cultivate family education instructors, expand family education curriculum resources, build theoretical research sites, and carry out various activities like the Family Education Promotion Week. At the opening ceremony, “Baoshan Parent School Research and Training Center” was officially unveiled, and 17 “Baoshan Parent School Research and Training Base Units” were awarded.

Family plays an important role in our society and is the first school of one’s life. This promotion week also launched a brand-new parent-child route themed “Citizens’ Tour of Cultural Landscape for Self-cultivation”, and created a new scene of parent-child study tour by promoting the offline tour of cultural landscape.

The original recitation work “Letter · Reading” deeply interprets the stories behind the three family letters, demonstrates the inheritance of family traditions at different ages, and shows the deep spiritual core and value implication of family education.

There are 15 booths in three areas for the simultaneous outfield learning experience activities, which include: the exhibition of calligraphy works on the educational maxims of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the consultation activities of personalized guidance stations for family education, as well as the racing of mini remote control model cars, the robots’ picking in orchards, the DIY of embossed bookmarks and other parent-child carnival experience workshops.

In recent years, Baoshan District has always insisted on thinking about and promoting the high-quality development of education in the overall development of “Northern Transformation”, and has continuously advanced the practice in the aspects of multi-level physical position construction of parent schools, connotative development pattern innovation on professions, cross-departmental and cross-domain linkage mechanism, empowerment development of digital learning platform, optimization of family education brand of Lok Hok (Le Xue) or Lok Ka (Le jia), etc. Through various forms, Baoshan aims to guide parents to respect, study, abide by, and apply the law, and to help children buckle the first button of their lives.

During this promotion week, the District Education Department and the District Women’s Federation will cooperate to set up on-site consultation on family education, expert lectures, parent-child carnival and other activities, so as to popularize the Family Education Promotion Law, give full play to the role of family education in cultivating people, and create a strong atmosphere for the whole people to participate in family education.

In the future, Baoshan District will further improve the cooperative education mechanism among schools, families and the society, continuously upgrade the quality of family education guidance services by taking the construction of family education and family style as the starting point, and strive to build a high-quality education system that serves lifelong learning for the whole people, so as to provide Baoshan wisdom and Baoshan solutions for the development of family education.
