The 2023 Shanghai Cherry Blossom Festival opened on the sunny March 15. A large number of tourists visited Gucun Park in Baoshan District to view the sea of cherry blossoms and enjoy a happy day.

The first day of the 2023 Shanghai Cherry Blossom Festival, which is a working day, did not witness a “blowout” of tourists. However, the number of tourists to Gucun Park has been increasing steadily over the last few days. According to the experience of past years, previous Shanghai Cherry Blossom Festivals encountered a “blowout” of tourists during the blooming period. Baoshan has formulated scientific plans and introduced effective measures and will provide meticulous and thoughtful services to cope with the large passenger flow.

The director of Gucun Park remarked, “March 15 is the first day of the Cherry Blossom Festival. As of 11:30 in the morning, the number of tourists reached more than 18,000. This year’s large passenger flow may set a new record. We’ve devised sufficient operational guarantee plans and increased manpower. Over 110 staff members have been dispatched to the three entrances, and 52 ticket-checking channels and 30 plus ticket windows have been opened. Moreover, there are volunteers at the entrances to guide and evacuate the visitors.”

Gucun Park received 35,086 visits by the time it closed at 18:00 on March 15. The operation of the park was smooth and orderly on that day.

In addition, the park has adopted management and persuasion measures to tackle the problem that Internet celebrities monopolize cherry blossom trees to take photos, which hinders other tourists from viewing the cherry blossoms and taking photos. By doing so, all visitors can enjoy the cherry blossoms fairly.

The director of Gucun Park said, “Everyone loves beauty, but Internet celebrities who monopolize cherry blossom trees are really a headache. During this year’s Cherry Blossom Festival, the park will ask security guards to increase patrols and persuade tourists from monopolizing cherry blossom trees. If an Internet celebrity is found to be monopolizing a cherry blossom tree, we’ll dissuade him or her from doing that. Besides, we’ll dispatch volunteers to guide visitors to leave some crowded sites with beautiful scenery in the park. The large-scale flowering of the middle blooming cherry blossom trees will provide more cherry blossoms for sightseeing, lowering the frequency of occurrence of the phenomenon that Internet celebrities monopolize cherry blossom trees.”

The 2023 Shanghai Cherry Blossom Festival in Gucun Park spans from March 15 to April 15. More than 247 acres of cherry blossom trees will bloom alternately, presenting an amazing visual feast for tourists coming from near and far.

To enhance tourists’ sense of attainment and satisfaction, organizers of the 2023 Shanghai Cherry Blossom Festival have arranged a total of 21 activities for visitors, which are divided into five parts, namely, discovering new entertainment events under cherry blossom trees, tasting cherry blossom culture, visiting the cherry blossom parlor, enjoying the cherry blossom fun life and viewing cherry blossoms in spring. The new entertainment events under cherry blossom trees, including selecting the most gorgeous cherry blossom tree, Gu Xiaoying Cultural and Creative Market, Women’s Running Race under Cherry Blossom Trees and Photo Contest under Cherry Blossom Trees, will be staged. The launching ceremony of Baoshan’s cultural service day of the 2023 Shanghai Citizens Art Festival, a reading event under cherry blossom trees, an exhibition with the theme of “water + ink” and concerts on weekends will be held. A service season event for technological innovation talents, the activity of Innovation and Life-The 2023 Baoshan Cherry Blossom Festival Focusing on Technology Innovation, and the events to exhibit and sell products from poverty-stricken areas will be staged to gather professionals in the cherry blossom parlor. By utilizing its supporting service facilities, the park will provide tourists with food, vacation, entertainment, sightseeing and other services to help them enjoy themselves in the park. Furthermore, the consumption month event entitled Cherry Blossoms in Spring and tourism activities will be organized to make sure that visitors return with satisfaction.
