On the coastline of Baoshan riverside, the Long Beach Sightseeing Tower with a height of 180 meters is under construction. With its slender and concise cylindrical appearance, the Tower looks like Monkey King's "Golden-banded staff" standing at the intersection of Huangpu River and Yangtze River, adding brilliance to the riverside skyline of North Shanghai. The diamond-shaped Long Beach Concert Hall and the Sightseeing Tower lie against each other, representing a new cultural height for North Shanghai.

In the future, along the 6.8 km coastline of Baoshan riverside, which is centered on the largest cruise port in Asia, new landmarks as the maritime gateway will emerge one after another to jointly form a Shanghai International Cruise Resort with rich cultural heritage.

As soon as you drive from the city center into the former 14th District of Shanghai International Port, which is now the Long Beach, the 180-meter-high Long Beach Sightseeing Tower would be the first landmark you would notice. The slender cylindrical tower is standing by the river. Although its curtain wall is still under construction, the Sightseeing Tower has become a landscape after the transformation of the former "old port area".

On the day before the Spring Festival holiday, Shen Kewei and Xu Yincheng, respectively project manager and chief engineer of Shanghai Mechanized Construction Group, visited the construction site. The construction site became temporarily quiet after a year of chaos. They have witnessed this land change from a wasteland three years ago to a fresh land, and have overcome various construction problems. The Sightseeing Tower has a special meaning for the two "old mages", even if they have participated in the construction of other major projects such as Shanghai Disney Resort.

Xu Yincheng said, "the Sightseeing Tower is the 'most handsome boy' in the seven neighborhoods of Long Beach of Shanghai. After all the glass curtain walls are installed, it will shine in the sun, just like a Monkey King's 'Golden-banded staff'". Shen Kewei added: "It is the commanding height of North Shanghai! On rainy days, the whole building would be surrounded by clouds and fog, just like in the fairy tales. On sunny days, standing on the viewing floor, you can overlook Wusongkou with beautiful scenery, where huge ships sail and anchor, yachts cruise, as well as Chongming Island, Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Shanghai Tower, and Lujiazui at one glance.

Shanghai Long Beach Sightseeing Tower has a cylindrical towering structure with a diameter of 25.7 meters and a height of about 180 meters. Its architectural shape is like Monkey King's "Golden-banded staff", standing at the intersection of Huangpu River and Yangtze River. The whole tower has 3 floors underground and 19 floors above ground and is the tallest building in Baoshan District at present.

Climbing up and viewing the tower can bring enjoyable experience for citizens. Whereas, the sightseeing tower can provide more than that. It is not only a supporting project of the major municipal project "G1501 River-Crossing Tunnel", but also a new riverside leisure space integrating ecological greening, commercial business, and leisure residence. The highest vertical greening, aerial ropeway, high-altitude rock climbing in Shanghai, and three 40-meter hanging glass in the air are all popular places to take pictures of the Sightseeing Tower.

It is expected that by the end of this year, the Long Beach Sightseeing Tower will be completed and opened to the public.

Diamond-shaped Shanghai Long Beach Concert Hall is built adjacent to the Sightseeing Tower, and it also has a beautiful name: Crystal. The Concert Hall, with a facade composed of rhombic lattices and wrapped with a white hollow sealing plate and transparent curtain wall glass, is like a finely carved crystal in a wonderland.

At present, the main structure of the Concert Hall has been established. It has entered the stage of facade decoration and interior hardcover.

When back to work after the holiday, Xu Yincheng and his team would strive to complete the installation of hundreds of special-shaped glass curtain walls before April. At that time, the Concert Hall would "blossom" under the irradiation of the lights. "We are coming to the end of the construction, and I hope we can keep improving and create the best and most beautiful Concert Hall. Finally, after it is completed, especially when the lights are turned on at night, it will seem like a flower in full bloom."

Long Beach Concert Hall is not only elegant in appearance, but also exquisite in internal construction. The Concert Hall, which can accommodate thousands of people, can meet the demands of different types of concerts, including classical and modern concerts. It can also stage the highest standard performances of the largest size of symphony orchestra with a scale of 100 players. A hydraulic lifting device is fixed at the lower part of the stage to support multi-functional performing activities.

At the same time, there is also a roof projection system and LED curtain wall system outside the Concert Hall. By taking advantage of the combination of sound, light, electricity, and music melody, the Hall can provide a shocking vision effect during important festivals or music events.

The entrance of the Concert Hall locates on the basement floor. After its completion, the audience will enter from here and start their musical journey.

Walking out of the Concert Hall and coming to the second-floor platform, the open square makes people easily integrate into the hydrophilic coastline. "Residents of surrounding neighborhoods can walk all the way along the coast. Even if you don't listen to the concert, it is still enjoyable to view the fantastic scenery."

Within this year, the Long Beach Concert Hall will start trial operation.

Leaving the Sightseeing Tower and Concert Hall and heading south along the 6.8 km coastline, the former production coastline has become a belt for leisure and sightseeing. From the fence, the view is unobstructed, and the unique landscape of great rivers is accompanied by warm sunshine, which makes the city of the northern riverside of Shanghai vivid and fresh.

The intersection of Yangtze River, Huangpu River, and Wenzaobang provide Baoshan with rich waterfront resources and advantageous location, which presents a great opportunity for the District to develop the "Shanghai International Cruise Resort".

In addition to the original landmarks such as Wusong Paotaiwan Wetland Forest Park, Binjiang Forest Park, Songhu Anti-Japanese War Memorial Park, Wusongkou Lighthouse, and International Cruise Port, a series of new landmarks have been built or are already being planned.

Baoshan riverside:

This year, the Sea One Project will be completed and put on record. A five-star hotel, nearly 70,000 square meters of Outlet commercial facilities and a "three ships" (cruise ship, tour boat, and yacht (sailboat)) corporate headquarters base will be built here.

A water sports experience center will be built in the Yangtze River estuary to initially form a sailing and yacht holiday mode of "training + experience + competition + tourism". In the future, citizens can go to Baoshan riverside to watch sailing competitions and receive sailing and yacht training.

According to the visiting line, more stations with special functions are laid out for tourists to rest during the tour.

(In cooperated with the Dutch artist Hoffman, a resort IP themed with porpoise has been created. Soon, a lovely image of porpoise will appear in Baoshan riverside water areas.)

Two major themes—cruise ship and Yangtze River estuary will be highlighted, and an IP image cluster will be created in the resort, including the cruise port, porpoise, and Wusongkou lighthouse.

Baoshan District will actively promote the cruise route to transform the century-old Wusong estuary to a living room of the world, extend the Pujiang tour route to the Yangtze River estuary and the century-old Wusong estuary, and provide tourists with an opportunity to experience the old eight scenic spots in Shanghai, Wusong history, and the beautiful scenery in the sea and sky at the same time.

Over the river, four wharves, including the International Cruise Terminal, offshore cruise terminal along the Yangtze River, "One River and One Stream" Sightseeing Terminal, and Sailing Yacht Terminal will form a tourism product system of international tour, domestic tour, Yangtze River Delta tour, and city tour. The "Three Tours Holiday" as the core will become the most unique holiday product. Living on the water will become a new way of life in the future, and the space on board will become a new holiday space.

As builders of shoreline scenery, Shen Kewei and Xu Yincheng also made an early wish for the coming year, which is to visit the Sightseeing Tower and Concert Hall they are building to welcome the first sunshine of the New Year with their families. "By the end of this year, this project will be completed. We will come here to welcome the New Year in 2023."
