On November 28, the "series activities of investment promotion for Baoshan building main position of Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Center - China Conference on Biomedical Industry Innovation 2020 and the Sixth International Symposium on Biopharmaceutical Innovation and Development of 2020" was held in Baoshan District, Shanghai.

At the biomedical conference themed with "Innovation and Transformation Empower the Biomedical Industry", the participants carried out forward-looking special reports and in-depth discussions on the frontier technologies and latest developments of global biomedicine, as well as the opportunities and challenges of China's biomedical development. It provides a construction mode and implementation path for Baoshan to optimize the innovation and development environment of the biomedical industry, enhance the innovation ability and international competitiveness of the biomedical industry, and promote the scale, agglomeration and international development of the biomedical industry.

It is worth mentioning that the conference attracted leaders and well-known experts in the field of biomedicine from all over the world. In order to speed up the construction of the biomedical industry in Baoshan, Baoshan also established the "Baoshan District Biomedical Industry Expert Consultation Committee", and invited over 10 renowned academicians and authoritative experts in the pharmaceutical field as members to assist Baoshan improving its biomedical investment and promotion, industrial research and judgment, park construction and other aspects.

Chen Jie, Chief of the Baoshan District Party Committee, said that the biomedical industry, a strategic industry of priority development for all countries in the world in the 21st century, is also an important pillar industry for Baoshan to build the main position of Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Center. Baoshan, as an important pole of Shanghai's "North-south Transformation" deployment and an important hub gateway of Channel along the North Yangtze River of the Yangtze River Delta regional integration, has a broad space for biomedical industry. With one of the five biomedical characteristic parks in Shanghai, North Shanghai Biomedical Industry Park will introduce and cultivate more than 100 biomedical enterprises in five years, with an industrial scale of more than RMB30 billion.

It is learnt that since this year, Baoshan has closely followed the main position of the construction of Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Center, has made plans to "Expand and Strengthen Three Major Industries of Integrated Circuit, Artificial Intelligence and Biomedicine, and Promote High-quality Development of Manufacturing Industry", and it has strengthened the regional coordination of industrial development, and constantly speed up the layout of biomedical industry. This year, the total investment of Shanghai Pharmaceuticals Holding Co., Ltd, Shanghai Baoji Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Wuxi Guosheng Bio-Engineering Co., Ltd., Thalys Medical Technology Inc., Diasorin Ltd., Drug Farm, Shanghai Huiyong Pharmaceutical Research Co., Ltd. and other projects has exceeded RMB10 billion. A total of 23 enterprise projects have been signed and implemented in the North Shanghai Biomedical Industrial Park. In order to continuously optimize the business environment and improve the ability to serve enterprises, Baoshan has taken the lead in issuing special support policies to support the development of biomedical industry. And the major projects are implemented with a special system, provided with one-to-one assistance services from registration, approval, construction and operation. Meanwhile, the Baoshan District Biomedical Industry Expert Consultation Committee, the Biomedical Branch of Shanghai European and American Students Association and Branch Center of North Shanghai Biomedical Industry Park are promoted to establish to build the communication platform for functional departments, the information sharing platform and the academic exchange platform.

Next, Baoshan will focus on improving the industrial height, the concentration of scientific and technological innovation and the output intensity of the park. While improving the service to enterprises, Baoshan will strive to build Baoshan into a development bearing area of the high-quality cluster of biomedical industry in Yangtze River Delta, a new benchmark of Shanghai biomedical industry and a new highland for the whole industry chain development of China's biomedical industry by taking measures including accelerating the carrier construction, exploring capital injection, optimizing platform functions, improving park supporting facilities, and attracting investment and cultivating enterprises.
