No Singles, No Badminton! This summer has seen a shift in the long-standing trend of doubles dominating amateur badminton tournaments. The spotlight has now turned to singles play. Recently, the much-anticipated 2025 Li-Ning · Chen Long Badminton Singles Open (Shanghai Stop) took place at the Jianfengyun Li-Ning Badminton Center, drawing over 900 athletes to compete in thrilling matches. Their spirited performances injected energy and vitality into Baoshan’s vibrant summer scene.

At 8:00 a.m. on July 5, the first group of athletes and referees entered the venue and witnessed the opening of the tournament amid the stirring strains of the national anthem. The guests present joined in the ceremonial first serXve, officially declaring the start of the competition.

The atmosphere at the competition venue was electric. Players pulled out all the stops—serving, smashing, netting, and delivering powerful clears from the backcourt. Each move embodied a seamless fusion of power, speed, and finesse, delivering a constant stream of exhilarating highlights. Young athletes played with boundless energy and fearless determination, radiating vitality and showcasing immense potential. Adult players, with their wealth of experience and refined techniques, engaged in fierce, high-stakes battles that kept the audience on the edge of their seats. Every match drew enthusiastic cheers from the crowd.

The tournament features two main events—Men’s Singles and Women’s Singles—and is further divided into as many as 20 competition categories based on age, including Youth Groups A, B, C, D, E, and F, as well as Adult Groups A, B, C, and D. This meticulous classification caters to badminton enthusiasts of all ages, allowing each player to compete in a suitable category, match skills with evenly ranked opponents, fully express their passion for the sport, and experience the true excitement of competition.

As a nationwide badminton event jointly initiated by world champion brands named Chen Long and Li-Ning, the 2025 Li-Ning · Chen Long Badminton Singles Open is committed to promoting the deep integration of professional and popular badminton, making a significant contribution to the national fitness initiative. The Shanghai stop of the tournament received strong support from professional organizations, with guidance from the Shanghai Badminton Association and the Baoshan District Sports Federation, and was meticulously organized by the Baoshan District Badminton Association. The event attracted an enthusiastic response, with 990 badminton enthusiasts from across the country signing up to compete.

After two days of intense competition, champions emerged across all categories. The players gave their all, writing their own chapters of glory with sweat and skill.
