From the rolling lawns of Changtan Hillside Park to the lively promenade at Shanghai Sea World, this popular riverside route in Baoshan is quickly becoming a must-visit destination for locals—and with good reason.

With summer heat on the rise, daytime outings can be a challenge. That’s why more and more people are heading out in the evenings—the perfect time to explore, unwind, and reconnect with nature. On July 5, Shanghai Sea World officially launched its first-ever Summer Splash Festival, a 58-day immersive summer celebration themed “All-Age Water Fun in Romantic Greek Vibes”. Running through August 31, the festival features craft beer and gourmet markets, live stage performances, a sandy beach park, and city surfing experiences, making it the go-to spot for summer nights in the city.

The riverside square near the Shanghai Sea World has transformed from an undeveloped area into a vibrant urban oasis, and Baoshan’s scenic riverside trail nearby becomes the only riverside leisure trail along the Yangtze River in Shanghai built for walking, jogging, and cycling.

As the sun begins to set, more and more families take to the boardwalk—strolling, running, biking —all while soaking up the riverside breeze and enjoying the stunning views. It’s quickly becoming a beloved landmark in northern Shanghai.

The Summer Splash Festival has drawn large crowds, especially families with young children.

By twilight, the energy is electric.
