On the morning of February 22, the launching ceremony for the 2025 Campaign for Rural Education in Culture, Technology, and Health, along with the Green and Low-Carbon Families Action Day and the “Green Trees and Civilization” themed event, took place at Care Bay, Tangwan Village, Luojing Town. The event was jointly organized by the Publicity Department of the Baoshan District Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Office of Baoshan District Commission for Guiding Cultural and Ethical Progress, and the Baoshan District Women’s Federation.

During the ceremony, government officials presented various gifts to representatives of the local community, including books, family first-aid kits, science-education passports, agricultural gift packs, and law-education souvenirs. In addition, awards were given to the representatives of the “2024 Model Families” recognized by the Baoshan District Rural Governance Credits System.

The event featured a vibrant program of performances, such as a dance show, picture book sharing, a “cheongsam and fan” dance, and a village-style drama. These performances, focusing on promoting public awareness of low-carbon lifestyles, come in a variety offorms well-received by the villagers. These performances are expected to fosterfriendly neighborhoods and harmonious family life.

The Baoshan District Health Commission coordinated with medical experts from Huashan Hospitalto provide consultations on daily health and wellness for villagersatdedicated service booths;the Baoshan District Culture and Tourism Bureau distributed books to the villagers and captured family photos to preserve their joyful moments;the Baoshan District Science and Technology Commission provided agricultural books and science-education services forvillagers; and the staff from the Baoshan District Commission of Agriculture and Rural Affairs introduced high-quality seed breeding, planting techniques, and other agricultural practices, distributing agricultural gift packs to the villagers. In addition, intangible cultural heritage artists showcased Baoshan’s local heritage, including Luojing Cross-Stitch and Cai’s Paper-Cutting. Local specialty agricultural products and rural revitalization-themed souvenirs from Luojing Town attracted many villagers, who took the opportunity to shop for unique items.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Shanghai’srural education initiative. Guided by Xi JinpingThought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the important discourse and instructions on rural work by General Secretary Xi Jinping, Baoshanis committed to promoting science education, policy education, and rural civilization in its rural areas, thereby meeting the needs of the villagers.
