Encounter—The 9th Original Illustration Exhibition of Chen Bochui International Children’s Literature Award kicks off
The 9th Original Illustration Exhibition of Chen Bochui International Children’s Literature Award Encounter April 12 - June 1, 2024 On April 12, the 9th Original Illustration Exhibition of Chen Bochui International Children’s Literature Award opened at Duoyunxuan Art Center, initiating a new round of touring exhibitions in 2024. This illustration exhibition takes “Encounter” as its annual theme and invites illustrators from around the world to depict the most beautiful encounters in their minds.The exhibition presents 104 groups of nearly 350 original works in the form of a series of works, many of which are on public display for the first time.
PART 1 Professional Group Section The professional group of this exhibition exhibits more than 280 professional group works selected by expert judges, from more than 30 countries including China, Italy, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Germany, Bulgaria, Argentina, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, and Singapore.Every vibrant and poignant artwork encapsulates and immortalizes serendipitous moments spanning across the years. Curated by over 50 skilled illustrators, these collections showcase diverse interpretations through a variety of artistic styles, skillfully intertwining elements of history and contemporary themes, broad perspectives with intricate details, and echoes of the past with visions of the future. This exhibition not only offers a feast for the eyes with its beautiful visual art but also stimulates contemplation on social issues and diverse artistic expressions from around the globe. Young readers draw inspiration from the 10 winning works of the previous year’s Literature Award and describe their own appreciation of the Literature Award-winning works from a unique perspective. Their artistic expressions, marked by a blend of innocence and creativity, provide a unique glimpse into childhood perspectives while paying homage to the essence of the Literature Award. Winners of the Original Illustration Exhibition of Chen Bochui International Children’s Literature Award 2023 will be invited to inspire illustration enthusiasts by sharing insights on crafting emotive and narrative-rich artworks through illustrations.
Furthermore, the exhibition features an extension of the illustration works, with the addition of various photo check-in points themed around illustrations.The audience can immerse themselves “within” these illustrations, capturing cherished memories with a camera while experiencing the timeless beauty depicted. The derivatives section showcases a collection of practical and aesthetically pleasing cultural and creative products that integrate illustrations into everyday life, enriching and beautifying lives with art.Visitors to the exhibition site not only have the opportunity to appreciate vibrant illustrations but also to delight in the award-winning works of the Chen Bochui International Children’s Literature Award.
This year, following the exhibition in Duoyunxuan Art Center, the illustration exhibition will embark on a tour across university art galleries and public cultural venues in the Yangtze River Delta, inviting more enthusiasts of reading and illustration to participate. The artistic vitality displayed in the illustration exhibition will further amplify the brand influence and reach of the Chen Bochui International Children’s Literature Award, nurturing aspiring illustrator prodigies through the fusion of reading and artistry while infusing the city with a playful and artistic charm.
