GCL-ET Builds the First Vertical AI 1000P Cluster in Shanghai

Recently, the commissioning ceremony of GCL-AI Computing (Shanghai) Center and the unveiling ceremony of Baoshan Project were held in Baoshan District Traffic Information Industry Center, Shanghai. This is the first AI 1000P cluster focusing on the vertical field in Shanghai. It is estimated that the final power scale will reach 1000P by the end of the year. The center is also the second intelligent computing center put into operation by GCL-ET after the GCL-AI Computing (Suzhou) Center was put into operation on August 27 this year. The project integrates advanced technologies including high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and big data analysis to efficiently serve scientific research, industrial development, and social needs.

In his speech, Zhao Ping said that the settlement of GCL-AI Computing (Shanghai) Center has added an important pole to Gucun’s efforts to build Baoshan Intelligent Manufacturing Core Bearing Area, Modernization Pioneer Area, and Transformation Development Demonstration Area. Boshan will unswervingly support enterprises to implement independent innovation, gather the development needs of enterprises in the whole life cycle, continuously release policy dividends, provide solid guarantee, and create a better environment for the development and growth of GCL-AI Computing (Shanghai) Center.

As a project partner of GCL-AI Computing (Shanghai) Center, Xu Mingqiang said that computing power is entering thousands of households, serving thousands of industries and becoming a public basic resource like water and electricity. GCL and China Transport Big Data have joined forces to create a new coordinate of computing power industry in the Yangtze River Delta, serving the transformation and development of Baoshan District in “the main position of Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Center, the main urban area of international metropolis, and the green and low-carbon transformation model area of the whole city”, and jointly promoting the rapid development of artificial intelligence industry in the Yangtze River Delta.

Zhu Gongshan said that under the traction of the “dual carbon” goal, the construction of a new power system has been accelerated, and energy and computing power have become inseparable “twin stars”. GCL is deeply rooted in the fertile ground for high-quality economic development in the Yangtze River Delta, followed the digital transformation thinking of building enterprises on digital soil, and comprehensively built a new ecology of industrial integration combing “electric power + energy storage + computing power” to drive the construction of new productive forces. In the next step, GCL will continue to expand, optimize, and enhance the scope and capability of smart application, and strive to build an open, shared, and collaborative computing ecosystem to boost the “dual carbon” process.

Computing power is the productivity in the digital economy era. In October this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other six departments jointly issued the Action Plan for High-quality Development of Computing Infrastructure, making arrangements for enhancing the effectiveness of computing power empowerment. The Ministry promoted and encouraged leading enterprises to build data centers with high standards in a green, intelligent, and customized way, make full use of the advantages of existing energy resources, and provide computing power integrating “energy flow, business flow, and data flow" in combination with their own application needs.

Huaxi Securities said that if the generative artificial intelligence AIGC is the “flow entrance” for technology enterprises to start the second round of performance growth curve, computing power is the “admission ticket” for technology manufacturers to start the AI battle. With the establishment of the National Data Bureau, the regulations on data assets entering the table have been implemented, and the industrialization of computing power is just around the corner. GCL-ET will speed up the layout of key cities, link with relevant leading enterprises and other parties, and innovate models to ensure the growing demand for intelligent computing power and jointly consolidate the digital intelligence base for the development of digital economy.
