With an aim to gather talents from all over the world to help Baoshan realize “Northern Transformation”, the Overseas Talents Exchange Matchmaking Meeting (Silicon Valley Station) themed “Introducing Overseas Talents to Baoshan” was held in Peking University Science Park (Shanghai) today through interactive live broadcast connecting “Shanghai Venue + Silicon Valley Venue”.

At the event, the relevant departments of Baoshan District sincerely provided a package of policy benefits and comprehensive high-quality jobs, which attracted the attention of many overseas students from Silicon Valley and other high-end talents from abroad. This matchmaking meeting invited more than 40 overseas talents from Silicon Valley universities and overseas high-level talents, as well as nearly 20 outstanding enterprises in Baoshan District to gather in the cloud to talk about the future. Nearly 3,500 people watched the event online via the live-broadcasting platform.

Build overseas stations to create a “new highland” for global talent gathering.

As an important global hub of technological innovation, Silicon Valley is highly relevant to the main front of Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Center to be built in Baoshan. The Silicon Valley station of this event is located in Q Bay Center, which is strongly supported by Peking University Alumni Association in North America, Tsinghua Alumni Association in Silicon Valley, Beijing Institute of Collaborative Development in North America, Chinese Entrepreneurs Organization (CEO) in Stanford, Association of Chinese Entrepreneurs (ACE) at Berkeley, Chinese-American Bio/Pharmaceutical Society and other units.

On the spot, Baoshan District and Peking University Science Park (Shanghai) unveiled the “Silicon Valley Talent Introduction Station in Baoshan”. The launch of the first overseas talent introduction station is also a brand-new exploration of Baoshan in international talent introduction, which opens up the channel between Baoshan and overseas high-level talents, and builds an “air corridor” for exchanges and matchmaking between the two sides. Baoshan will provide one-stop and all-round services for overseas talents from Silicon Valley and other international talents with better mechanisms, more superior services and more effective measures. By fully integrating overseas talent resources, its government will open up a green channel to bring in overseas high-end talents, promote more high-quality overseas professionals and teams to land in Baoshan with “high-grade, precision and advanced” projects, and create a “new highland” for sci-tech talents gathering in Baoshan.

For cutting-edge talents, the position and salary are negotiable for each person.

In the early stage of this event, Baoshan District Human Resources and Social Security Bureau figured out the job requirements of key enterprises, and invited some designated recruitment enterprises of popular jobs that overseas talents are most interested in to attend the meeting, so as to combine the job-hunting needs of overseas talents with the needs of enterprises. Nearly 20 key enterprises in Baoshan have released more than 100 recruitment needs for overseas talents, involving many positions such as R&D engineers, biostatisticians and management trainees. Some enterprises have even introduced generous subsidies for settling down and buying houses as well as perfect training programs for young scientists, with the position and salary negotiable for each person, hoping to recruit a group of overseas master’s or doctoral talents with broad global vision and excellent professional quality to participate in the R&D and planning of the enterprise’s cutting-edge technologies.

At the scene, representatives of outstanding enterprises in Baoshan District, such as Baosteel Co., Ltd., Shanghai Inoherb Cosmetics Co., Ltd., and Shanghai RNAcure Biopharma Co., Ltd., and representatives of startup enterprises established by overseas talents in Peking University Science Park (Shanghai), such as Shanghai Yiling Chaoyan Medical Technology Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Kalu Automation Science and Technology Co., Ltd., introduced the development history of their respective enterprises in detail, and released recruitment needs on the spot, providing job opportunities to overseas talents, and sincerely inviting these talents to join their teams and pursue common innovation and development.

Interact in the cloud to create a new platform for two-way selection.

Through the live promotion fair, many overseas students from Silicon Valley were attracted by Baoshan’s innovation and entrepreneurship environment and its talent support policies. At the exchange meeting, representatives of enterprises conducted “cloud” exchanges with overseas students from Silicon Valley and other overseas high-end talents, and conducted in-depth communication on industrial potential, sci-tech innovation prospects, corporate culture and job requirements. “I am deeply attracted by Baoshan’s policies and services, and I really want to return to Baoshan to start a business. Baoshan launched corresponding talent policies that covering the needs of overseas students in all aspects, attaches great importance to overseas talents, and is a place where talents sincerely hope to stay and develop.” Wang Guhan, an overseas student who graduated from the UC Berkeley College of Engineering, has just finished her studies in the United States. She devotes herself to the R&D of tourism related technology products, aiming at connecting and integrating domestic and foreign tourism resources in a digital and intelligent way. After attending this event, she was attracted by Baoshan’s entrepreneurial policies and innovative environment for overseas returnees, and immediately contacted the relevant person in charge of Peking University Science Park (Shanghai), the base of startup enterprises established by overseas talents, hoping to innovate and start a business in Baoshan with the support of the Park.
