These SMEs are rewarded with “national-level” title. Recently, As one of the first five batches of clusters in Shanghai, Baoshan’s industry cluster of smart equipment suites, the only clusters of SMEs in featured industries of Baoshan, has been included in the list of 2022 SMEs clusters in featured industries accredited by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

In order to facilitate high quality development of SMEs, and enhance SMEs’ professionalism, specialization and clusterization, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology launched the accreditation of SMEs clusters in featured industries in 2022, aiming to cultivate a number of industry clusters with SMEs as the mainstay, that are with focused industry, highlighted characteristics, and gathered resources, and have efficient networks, rounded management and services, and relatively strong core competitiveness. During the 14th Five Year Period, MIIT will accredit about 200 clusters across the country, while guide and support local authorities to cultivate a number of provincial-level clusters.

Shanghai Industrial Park of Robotics is the core carrier of Baoshan’s industry cluster of smart equipment suites. It covers an area of 3.09 square kilometers, and is one of Shanghai’s first batch of special industrial parks and eight core parks of smart manufacturing. The cluster gathers key SMEs from home and abroad, achieves integrated development in field of smart equipment represented by Fanuc and SH Corporation, visual recognition represented by Speedbot, human-computer interaction represented by Quicktron, and deep learn represented by SK Intelligent.

Till now, Baoshan’s industry cluster of smart equipment suites has gathered 243 companies along the industrial chain, of which 3 are national-level “Small Giant” that are specialized, refined, differential and innovational, 21 are municipal ones. The total industrial output of the cluster hit 25 billion RMB, up by 19.05% year-on-year. Its leading industries’ output reached 20.36 billion RMB, with an annual average growth rate as high as 11.25% in the recent three years.

Looking forward, Baoshan district is going to strengthen services for featured industry clusters, and facilitate the pooling of quality innovative resources such as technologies, finance and talent. “One cluster one solution” will be implemented according to the characteristics and development plan of the cluster. Clusters will be supported to improve services capacity and development quality, and be cultivated to become ones with international competitiveness, thus empowering Baoshan’s “Northern Transformation”.
