Baoshan Police Worked around the Clock Before the Lockdown
One day before Puxi, or the western side of Huangpu River, was put into lockdown, Baoshan Public Security Bureau worked around the clock to safeguard the mass nucleic acid testing. It dispatched manpower to local committees of residents, conducted a thorough inspection into vessels, and launched a strict and orderly traffic control.
“Security check!” At 21:00 on March 31, Xu Bing, Water Police Chief at Baoshan Public Security Bureau, spotted several unregistered boats on Wenzao River and Beisi Tang River. While calling for more manpower, Xu Bing directed the patrol boat to approach these boats to prevent them from escaping.
The patrol found eight unregistered boats in total on Wenzao River and Beisi Tang River. After immediately locating these boats according to video records, water police directed them to moor at a designated port. Fifteen crew members of the boats were put into quarantine, further guaranteeing a complete lockdown.
To ensure public order during the lockdown and thorough implementation of the covid-19 control measures, Dachang Town Police Station dispatched 20 policemen to 17 committees of residents where they started to work and live with local cadres from 18:00 on March 31.
Liu Bin is dispatched to the East Street Committee of Residents at Dachang Town. Upon arrival, he started to prepare for the lockdown right away. He worked with others to make an inventory of supplies, check the lockdown measures, and deal with local security reports, among others.
“Though I have been working at local communities for a long time and am rather familiar with the local conditions, I still need to make a thorough check tonight. None of the 3,573 residents at East Street will be missed out.” Working day and night at the East Street Committee of Residents, Liu Bin cannot spend time with his wife and daughter who will take part in the college entrance exam this summer, even though his home is just 200m away from the Committee. On his first night of arrival, Liu Bin made a thorough check of East Street residents and contacted over 40 residents who had not returned home and notified them of relevant legal consequences, in an effort to ensure the mass nucleic acid testing.
Also on the night of March 31, all traffic policemen of Baoshan returned to duty to conduct traffic control on Yuejiang Tunnel and sections of major expressways and highways within Baoshan. “While ensuring the smooth transportation for qualified vehicles, we also need to keep back those without pass permits,” Zhang Ruijun, a traffic police officer, said.
Vehicles that are permitted to pass include those that carry healthcare personnel and epidemic prevention workers. Drivers who show a pass permit, pass an ID check, and are tested negative within 48 hours are also permitted to leave. For vehicles without pass permits, Zhang Ruijun had to ask them to return.
Solute to all these police officers who work day and night to safeguard the security of this city!
