On the afternoon of August 24, the auditorium of Wusong Hospital of Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University frequently burst into applause. Two famous people were invited as guests at Baoshan Master Forum and gave wonderful speeches. They were Zhao Qizheng, member of the 16th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, former vice mayor of Shanghai Municipality, former director of the State Council Information Office, and director of the 11th CPPCC Foreign Affairs Committee and Jin Li, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, executive vice president of Fudan University, and deputy secretary of the Party Committee and dean of Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University. Cadres and employees of all units of the health system in Baoshan listened to the speech online and offline.

Professor Zhao Qizheng delivered a speech titled Chinese Stories in an International Context to describe how to tell Chinese stories to the world. In the speech, he said that Chinese stories were those things that really existed and happened in China. Telling Chinese stories well was to show a true, vivid, and comprehensive China. At present, Chinese stories told by foreigners may be untrue and inaccurate. It is particularly important for Chinese people to tell Chinese stories well. We must start from telling stories others want to listen to, interpret China in a globally understandable way, and spread the image of China and Chinese people with true, diverse, natural, vivid, fresh, and understandable stories.

In the lecture Human Evolution and Diseases, Academician Jin Li started from the relationship between genotype and phenotype, the central issue of genetics, and then talked about the relation among genes, environment, and human diseases. He also further explained several topics in a simple and profound way including mutations and natural selection, migration and natural selection shaping human genes, challenges of complicated traits on the genetics research, thrifty gene hypothesis, selection relaxation hypothesis, mutation of human genes in Asian people in the civilization era since the emergence of agriculture, and human diseases from the perspective of evolution. 

The “Master Forum” was hosted by Baoshan Medical Association and organized by Wusong Hospital of Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University.
