To promote the integrated development of Baoshan’s “sci-tech innovation, industry and city” and build a higher-quality city, Baoshan has launched the “Environmental Beautification” project. On the morning of August 11, Chen Jie, secretary of Party Committee of Baoshan District, led a team to inspect the construction of Baoshan public green spaces, waste-free Baoshan, and clean Baoshan to check the progress of Baoshan’s environmental beautification project. Wang Yiqun, Standing Committee Member and Deputy Mayor of Baoshan District, accompanied.

Baoshan Greenway started in 2005. The greenway on the south side of Youyi Road is a demonstration section of the fifth phase of Baoshan Greenway. The 1.61-kilometer path will be completed at the end of June 2021. It forms a 4.2-kilometer closed loop with other greenways on Youyi Road. Greenways, scenes, and leisure spaces are all available here. Chen Jie and his party watched as they walked. He pointed out that it is necessary to thoroughly implement the concept of “People’s City”, improve service facilities, further enhance the accessibility and the scenery of green spaces, and provide a public leisure space.

As China’s first high-recycling-rate decoration waste disposal project, the Decoration Waste Resource Treatment Center on Jiangyang North Road was completed and put into operation in 2019, which basically solved the problem of Baoshan decoration waste and improved the waste end disposal capacity. Chen Jie pointed out that the construction of a “waste-free city” is an essential manifestation of refined urban management. We should improve the level of reduction of decoration waste and resource utilization to build a solid environmental baseline for the construction of “beautiful Baoshan”.

The garbage outbound wharf on Taihe Road undertakes the task of transferring daily garbage and decoration garbage in Baoshan and adopts a new non-landing method to transfer the garbage on a daily basis. Chen Jie listened to the introduction of the garbage removal and disposal capacity and the removal process and extended his regards to the frontline sanitation workers and gratitude for their hard work to create a clean, tidy and comfortable city environment.

Chen Jie affirmed the achievements of the environmental beautification project in Baoshan District. He pointed out that commissions, offices and towns (parks) had rallied strength to coordinate the innovation positioning, new requirements for quality improvement, and new expectations of the public, and joined hands to cope with various tasks, creating a better business and living environment more compatible with “Sci-tech Innovative Baoshan”. To do a good job in the next stage, Chen Jie pointed out that we should establish systematic thinking, develop the concept of cityscape and afforesting, reaffirm the overall direction of coordination between departments, and also to start from details like garbage classification, building facades, advertising signs to constantly forge ahead the beautification of the city.

Chen Jie pointed out that solid and sustained efforts should be made. It is necessary to focus on critical links and sectors like the Baoshan “Yingbin Avenue” and “City Reception Hall” to stimulate the overall improvement of regional city quality. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen daily management and system construction, combine activities like special rectification, themed clean days to guide the formation of good public habits and regular management.

Chen Jie pointed out that we should fully mobilize the forces of all sectors of society to build a higher-quality city of the people. We should thoroughly implement the important concept of “people’s city built by and for the people”, strengthen community governance and joint construction, enhance the guidance of community gardeners, harness residents’ enthusiasm for participating in community beautification, and raise residents’ environmental awareness. At the same time, we should focus on the goal of serving the people, align with the central city area, integrate our work with building a National Civilized City, to guide the extensive participation of communities and enterprises to create a clean, orderly, beautiful, and high-quality urban environment.
