As a major construction project in Shanghai in 2020, the phase III Shanghai FANUC Intelligent Factory project, cooperated by the global robot giant FANUC Group and Shanghai Electric Group Company Limited, was officially started on December 2, with the completion of the first pile foundation. This project is the largest robot base of FANUC Group in the world after Japan. It can be called the super intelligent factory of robot industry. After completion, it will drive the robot industry in Shanghai to a new level.

Shanghai FANUC Robotics Co., Ltd. was jointly established in 1997 by FANUC Group and Shanghai Electric Group Company Limited, each holding 50% of the shares. The phase I and phase II plants in Shanghai Robot Industrial Park were completed in 2010 and 2014 respectively, totally covering an area of nearly 60,000 square meters which includes nearly 40,000 square meters of system factories. They are used for the research and development, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and factory inspection of system integration.

For the greater development of FANUC and further consolidating its leading position in China's robot and intelligent machinery market, FANUC Group and Shanghai Electric Group Company Limited decided to jointly build the Phase III Shanghai FANUC Intelligent Factory in Shanghai Robot Industrial Park. The new project covers an area of 431 mu, with a construction area of 300,000 square meters and a total investment of about rmb1.58 billion. It will make full use of the strong engineering integration and technical service capabilities of FANUC Group, build a center and service headquarters of intelligent manufacturing, research and development, display, sales and system integration, and build an advanced and highly flexible robot super intelligent factory. The annual output value is expected to reach RMB10 billion.

Intelligent manufacturing is an important pillar for Shanghai to promote the construction of global science and technology innovation center. Shanghai FANUC Robotics Co., Ltd. said that with the start of the phase III intelligent factory, it would further promote the intelligent robot and accelerate the deep integration with all walks of life in the Chinese market. It will also continuously improve the efficiency, boost the transformation and upgrading of the industry, realize the beautiful vision of the factory in the future, and strive to become the business card of Baoshan intelligent manufacturing.

It is learnt that Shanghai Robot Industrial Park is the only robot theme industrial park listed by the Shanghai municipal government. In 2020, it was listed as one of the 26 characteristic industrial parks in Shanghai by the Municipal Economic Commission, and one of the eight parks in the core field of intelligent manufacturing in Shanghai. In the future, Shanghai Robot Industrial Park will focus on the core links in the key fields of robotics and intelligent manufacturing, strengthen source innovation and industrial leadership, strive to be the main force of science and technology innovation construction in Baoshan district, and try its best to build a new highland of industrial development and a new landmark of industry-city integration.
