The 2020 “Fighting Fun Baoshan” Amateur Basketball League and the Taekwondo Selective Trials of the 3rd Shanghai Citizens Sports Meeting were held on October 11 simultaneously. The Amateur Basketball League, jointly organized by the Baoshan Sports Bureau and the CYL Baoshan Committee, kicked off in the Baoyang Powerlong Plaza.

To accelerate the construction of the “City of Basketball” of Baoshan, further integrate resources and popularize the basketball culture, the Baoshan Amateur Basketball League (BABL)” has been initiated at the opportunity of publishing the “Fighting Fun Baoshan” all-people fitness brand. Previously, nearly 500 athletes of 48 teams took part in the mass-election and 8 teams finally stood out after fierce competition and entered into the points race - the League. The knockout stage and the finals will be held according to the points.

The League has been held in the business circle for the first time and the basketball court has been specially set up there for the League, increasing the utilization ratio of vacant space. The visitors flow rate of the core business circle in Baoshan has attracted more citizens to stop and watch the game, leading more citizens to take part in the League. Besides, the League has also boosted the consumption in the business circle, realizing a win-win result. Hope that the League will create an amateur basketball platform for citizens and allow more citizens to enjoy the atmosphere of all-people fitness, injecting more vitality to the business circle.

Baoshan has actively promoted the “City of Basketball” construction in recent years. The Shanghai Baoshan Dahua Women’s Basketball Club has settled in Baoshan; the basketball gym of the NBA-standard Baoshan Stadium has held many basketball events of different levels, ages and careers. Basketball has been very popular in Baoshan and played everywhere like enterprises, parks, communities and schools. Gradually, the connotation of the “City of Basketball” of Baoshan has been enriched and its basketball brand has become increasingly famous.

The Taekwondo Selective Trials was held in the Baogang Stadium, with nearly 200 athletes from some 10 taekwondo gyms comparing notes. The Trials is hosted by the Shanghai Social Sports Management Center (Shanghai Sports Competition Management Center) and the Baoshan Sports Bureau and organized by the Taekwondo (Shanghai) Sports Brokerage Co., Ltd.

There are 6 groups in the Trials, covering athletes of different ages from preschool to secondary school. At the arena, the young athletes are forceful, skilled and unswerving. Fatigue as they were after the competition, they were still wearing smiles of pride. They’ve stood on stage at an early age and demonstrated the power of taekwondo with each gesture and motion, showing their determination, courage and not shrinking back. These little athletes have injected new passion and vitality to Baoshan permeated in laurel blossom fragrance with their passion.

This Taekwondo Trials will be included in the taekwondo league credits system, representing a breakthrough of the taekwondo event initiated by Baoshan and making it a taekwondo event of high standard and level and large scale. In addition, it mainly focuses on teenagers, allowing more teenagers to accumulate experience and take exercise by taking part in the district-level selective trials. And it will also help to popularize taekwondo, assist the teenager sports development in Baoshan, offer more exchange platforms and opportunities for taekwondo gyms, contribute to creating a high-quality and high-standard sports event in Baoshan, and promote the development of taekwondo, thus encouraging more parents and children to participate in the 3rd Shanghai Citizens Sports Meeting and enhancing the atmosphere of sports and exercise in Baoshan.
