The “Celebrating Harvest, Promoting Prosperity” Shanghai 1st Peasants’ Sports Week - Baoshan “Beautiful Village” Sports Meet was held in Tangwan Village, a Rural Revitalization Demonstration Village in Shanghai, on the afternoon of September 28. 9 teams from Baoshan, Qingpu, Jiading and Pudong took part.

Unable to hold back their excitement, the participants set off successively upon hearing a blast of steam-whistling. There set 5 clock-in sites in the activity -- “Identifying Flowers in Garden”, “Abundant Harvest of Crops”, “Rural Style”, “Rich Fruits” and “Garden Shooting”, each with a task themed on “Celebrating Harvest, Promoting Prosperity”.

The participants should find the featured Luojing farm plants among the numerous plants in the Maternity Plant Cultural Garden, guess the name of Luojing Sixi Cake, look for exhibits related to “food, clothing, shelter, means of traveling and needs” in the Rural Style Exhibition Pavilion, and take photos with beautiful scenery along the road as the background by using the special-shaped shoot board. The most interesting task is at the “Rich Fruits” site. Members of each team would transport 10 sacks full of grain to the designated point with carrying poles and a bamboo basket in relay and then taste local watermelon with their eyes covered, enjoying the rural affairs, flavor and pleasure in Luojing and appreciating the new look of the rural reform and development in Baoshan.

In recent years, Baoshan has extensively carried out all-people exercising activities on “Happy Baoshan, Funny Sports”, and actively created the brand features suiting peasants and villages like orienteering, road running and basketball. It has held the 10km female Sakura running, the family marathon, the Shanghai Luojing Beautiful Village Hiking and other events for years, with an aim of boosting sports in villages.
