On July 31, A Wisp of Loyal Soul, the original musical sitcom, was officially staged in Shanghai Songhu Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall. As a national primary and secondary school research and learning base and one of the first batch of recommended venues for "Four Histories" learning and education in Shanghai, The War Memorial Hall innovated the form of publicity and education after launching the red culture publicity of “four histories”.

The musical sitcom consisted of five acts: the introduction, the beginning of the war, remembering the hometown, not grieving in case of any accident, and a thread of loyal soul. With the martyr Yao Ziqing as the main character, a series of plots were launched to bring the audience back to the bloody scene of Baoshan City in 1937, vividly showing the fear when the peaceful time was broken by the sudden gunfire, the inner uneasiness when the war was raging, and the homesickness in the dead of night. 

It was understood that the event broke the traditional visiting mode, and on the basis of looking back on the history, respecting the history and remembering the history, it integrated an array of artistic elements such as the revolutionary memory, the youth color, the deep love between husband and wife, the Anti-Japanese war atmosphere, etc. Through the interactive scene dance drama, the heroic deed of Yao Ziqing’s battalion in Babaoshan was interpreted. With the highly-concise scene dance-drama, and the patriotism of the army and masses, the aesthetic image expression and the flexible scenery, the heroic sacrifice for safeguarding the national dignity was reproduced, showing the lofty belief of the revolutionary martyrs.

The museum hoped that after watching the play, the audiences would feel the spirit of thousands of heroes in the war of fighting against Japan, as they fought and devoted their lives to the national liberation and independence. The play provided vivid teaching materials for the study and education of the "four histories".
