Introduction to Chen Bochui Experimental Kindergarten in Baoshan District, Shanghai

Founded in September 2008, Chen Bochui Experimental Kindergarten now has two campuses and 31 classes. The kindergarten cherishes Mr. Chen Bochui’s literary thought of “respecting children”, grasps the goal of “inspiring moral character and  promoting emotional education” in literary stories, and creates the educational elements and orientation expressed by them. It determines the development orientation of running a kindergarten with the goal of enlightening and promoting the harmonious development of children’s body and mind with literary works, and moves from the starting point of “building a kindergarten with literary enlightenment characteristics from the perspective of children” to the process of high-quality development. In 2010, the kindergarten was rated as the First-class Kindergarten in Shanghai, and in 2021, it was honored as the Model Kindergarten in Shanghai.

Guided by the concept of “education makes every child go further”, the kindergarten focuses on the future based on the present, pays attention to the development of each child’s interest and potential, and constructs the curriculum of “Children’s Literary Activities from the Perspective of Art Isomorphism”. On the basis of feeling and appreciating literary works, the kindergarten have constructed the curriculum of “three-dimensional literary experience and expression” from the perspective of artistic isomorphism according to six dimensions, that is, “appreciation”, “speaking”, “singing”, “acting”, “jumping” and “painting”, and created the activity style of “multi-dimensional integration of kindergarten literature and art”. Through the establishment of “Literary Society”, children can feel the joy of entering the literary world.

 The kindergarten has established a guiding ideology of “safeguarding children’s development with teachers’ development”, and created a “broad-minded, caring and noble” teacher culture. It advocates “team building driven by culture” and constructs the implementation path, method and strategy of “cultural field, cultural core, cultural consciousness and cultural team”, so as to cultivate an excellent team of teachers, who will be ideal educational practitioners, responsible educational adherents, connotative brand pursuers and spiritual leaders with educational feelings.
