Located at the mouth of the Yangtze River and the Huangpu River, Shanghai Wusong High School is an experimental and leading model school with a long and profound history. The school upholds the original educational philosophy of “struggling against foreign powers in turbulent days and cultivating students who shoulder the responsibility of rescuing our country”. In 1928, the school was titled “Shanghai Wusong High School”. In 1935, it ranked the first place in the General Examination of Shanghai. From then on, Wusong High School has been holding its reputation as a leading high school in Shanghai. After the establishment of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Yizhi Wang--the well-known revolutionary educator, and Mr. Fenghao Zhu--the renowned mathematician, held the post of the headmaster of Wusong High School. In addition, a number of outstanding alumni have been making great contributions to our country in all walks of life, such as Mr. Yusheng Yang, Mr. Sijing Wang and Mr. Weiqi Wang--the academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering.

In recent years, the school has made a continuous effort to deeply comprehend the inner meaning of times, which is “cultivating a sound personality and encouraging active development ”, and formed an educational concept of “fulfilling every one of our responsibility for the brilliant future of our nation”. The school has adhered to the value of Dalton educational reform, “freedom, cooperation, and planning”, built “the system of Dalton courses”, implemented “the operation mode of Dalton courses”, and established “the Dalton Workshop”, which can facilitate the well-rounded and personalized development of students.

Wusong High School has won the role model of Shanghai for the thirteenth consecutive year. It has also become one of the nationwide leading model schools of physical education and the nationwide leading model schools of national defence education, the Shanghai model school of implementing administration law system, the Shanghai model school of characteristic art education, one of the Shanghai leading model schools of cultivating the applications of information technologies. Wusong High School is also the third round experimental school of curriculum leadership.
