Recently, the Shanghai Cultural and Creative Industry Promotion Leading Group Office announced the list of 160 municipal parks (including 24 demonstration parks), 20 demonstration buildings, and 36 demonstration spaces for the years 2023-2025. Baoshan’s Wisdom Bay was named as a municipal demonstration park, and 12 other parks, such as the Peninsula 1919 Cultural and Creative Industry Park, Elite Valley, and the Shanghai Museum of Glass Park, were named as municipal parks. Caijing Science Park was named as a municipal demonstration building.

Introduction to some of the parks:

Wisdom Bay

Located at No. 6 Wenchuan Road, Wisdom Bay was once a warehouse site but has now become a platform for enterprise innovation and creation. It focuses on areas such as 3D printing, intelligent manufacturing, VR, AR, and artificial intelligence robotics, and is dedicated to deep integration of cultural creativity and technological innovation.

The stacked containers have been transformed into industrial-style creation boxes with doors and windows, and the old warehouses have been turned into a block that integrates cultural creativity, product design, technological innovation, art exhibitions, and tourism and leisure, becoming a stunning sight along the coast of Wenzao River.

The power of technology is visible everywhere in Wisdom Bay. There are also theaters, cinemas, bookstores, teahouses, restaurants, cafes, as well as entertainment and sports venues in the park, making it a large tourism and residential area.

Peninsula 1919 Cultural and Creative Industry Park

The Peninsula 1919 Cultural and Creative Industry Park is located on a semi-circular land formed by the intersection of Wenzao River and Sitang River. Its predecessor was the Wusong Greater China Cotton Mill founded in 1919, which was a gem of Shanghai’s early industrial civilization. In 1958, it was renamed as the Eighth State-owned Cotton Textile Factory in Shanghai. In 2007, with the renovation of the old buildings, Peninsula 1919 was officially born.

After the renovation, Peninsula 1919 stands with various types of buildings built from the 1920s to the 1960s, retaining the elements of the cotton textile factory such as textile machines, coal conveyor belts, slag outlets, and the clock tower, recording the development of the Chinese textile industry. Art graffiti can be seen everywhere, adding a unique artistic atmosphere to the industrial style under the reinforced concrete. The Baoshan Textile Industry Civilization Exhibition Hall showcases the past and present of the textile industry, while the Yang Design Museum displays thousands of objects representing the evolution of industrial civilization, making Peninsula 1919 a must-visit attraction.

Elite Valley

Elite Valley is located at No. 258 Changjiang Road. Its predecessor was the warehouse of the Shanghai branch of China National Complete Plant Import & Export Group Corporation Ltd. founded in 1959, the earliest complete equipment import and export company in the People’s Republic of China.

Today, it has been transformed into a new type of innovative industrial park that integrates technological innovation, cultural creativity, and intellectual entrepreneurship. Original furniture and design brands gather here, conveying the spirit of originality with unique design, creating a special atmosphere of aesthetic life, and allowing you to find your longing and passion for a better life. In your free time, you can take a walk along the century-old Songhu corridor along the railway, visit the original brand furniture stores, have a cup of coffee, visit an art exhibition in the art gallery, or work up a sweat on the sports field, which will no doubt bring happiness.

Shanghai Museum of Glass Park

The Shanghai Museum of Glass is located at No. 685 Changjiang West Road, and its predecessor was the First Shanghai Glassware Factory. It was completed and opened to the public in 2011 and has been listed as one of the three must-visit museums in China. It continuously presents wonderful exhibitions to the public. Here, glass art and design transcend the barriers of time, space, language and culture, and are presented to the public in various cross-forms.

Sanlinqiao Sports and Culture Park

The Sanlinqiao Sports and Culture Park is located at No. 485 Jiangyang South Road in Baoshan District. It is currently the first sports-themed industrial park in Shanghai and one of the few of its kind in China. The park, named after its location at the junction of Baoshan, Hongkou, and Jing’an, connects industrial relics with modern civilization, as well as the sports industry with the consumer market, through bridges.

Unlike other sports venues with single functions, the Sanlinqiao Sports and Culture Park will integrate the sports and cultural industry chain, and plan three major sections: sports activities, culture and arts, and supporting business, which will become a driving force for regional industrial transformation and upgrading. It will also serve as a hub for commercial, cultural, living, and leisure activities and become a community-based park.

Caijing Science Park

Caijing Science Park is an important part of the Gaojing Sci-Tech Innovation Town in Baoshan District. Since its establishment, the park has actively engaged in mass entrepreneurship and innovation by introducing and supporting innovative and entrepreneurial enterprises. It has formed a cluster of science and technology and cultural and creative industries. Through local policy support, project application, training, and full-cycle incubation services, it serves a vast number of small and medium-sized innovative enterprises and entrepreneurs.

The park has been awarded by the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission as the Shanghai Science and Technology Enterprise Incubator, the Shanghai Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Service Workstation, and the Shanghai Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Nursery. It has also won the New Incubator Award for the 30th anniversary of the Shanghai Science and Technology Enterprise Incubator.
