It’s spring again with flowers blossoming in the warm breeze. The citizens of Baoshan Unconsciously pressed the “fast forward button” of work and life in this warm and green season with fragrance everywhere and made full efforts in the journey of “Northern Transformation”. They are not accompanied with dust, but parks, green spaces, flowers, and birds.

On New Year’s Day, Fengxiang Zhixiu Park, located on one side of the Baoshan High-tech Industrial Park, was officially completed and put into use, providing a new urban ecological space for the entertainment of citizens who come here. Fengxiang Zhixiu Park is a citizen leisure park in Baoshan built in 2022. It reaches Xinchapu in the east, Zoumatang in the south, Gongye Road in the west, and Jinqiu Road in the north, with a total area of 32.12 hectares, including 28.89 hectares of land area and 3.23 hectares of water area.

Dense and tall forests and clear and rich water systems are the most remarkable ecological features of this city park. Wandering in the park, people can enjoy the forest trails which are designed with characters and fascinating artificial landscape sketches.

Besides Fengxiang Zhixiu Park, Baoshan has conducted a lot in greening construction in 2022. During last year, 100 hectares of various green spaces were newly built, 33,000 square meters of three-dimensional greening and 7.34 kilometers of urban greenways were built. The per capita green space area of park in the whole district reached 11.68 square meters, and the green space rate in the built-up area reached 39%.

At the same time, Baoshan continuously expands the theme function of the park and deepens the connotation of the park green space. For example, the “Changjiang No.11” theme post office was completed in Wusongpao Taiwan National Wetland Park and became a new punching point for citizens; Hulinyuan has built a civil code theme park, which has been completed and opened; the construction of a sponge city will be added to Meilan Lake Park to further enhance the overall ecological quality of the park.

The first citizen gardening center was also completed in Wusongpao Taiwan National Wetland Park, providing the Baoshan citizens in the whole district with “one-stop” gardening services such as gardening consultation, gardening training, gardening exhibition, and gardening sales, which satisfy the needs of the masses for home gardening services. Baoshan also held several horticultural cultural activities, and 12 horticultural lecture halls with flower arrangement, bonsai, and painting. Nearly 200 people participated in the activities. A total of 12 thematic activities including World Wetlands Day, National Science Popularization Day, “Pursuing Red Memory” activity, and Bird Love Week were carried out throughout the year.

In the greening construction of Baoshan, a series of major construction projects are still being carried out. For example, Taihe Road (Tongji Road-Hutai Road), Yueluo Highway (S7-Panjing Road), Baoan Highway (Wenchuan Road-Hutai Road) ecological environment improvement project, Songbao key section ecological environment improvement project, Hutai Road (Yueluo Highway-Wenshui Road) ecological environment improvement project, Wenzaobang coastal ecological environment improvement and green-way linkage project, all of which have provided new space to further improve the urban quality.

Baoshan also actively guides citizens to participate in online tree planting activities and publishes and promotes the adoption platform of Internet plus and online “Green Doctor” (WeChat official account). A total of 229 trees were adopted by 214 citizens, and the enthusiasm of the citizens was further enhanced.

The “soft power” of ecological environment is also stimulating the new vitality of the city and people’s happiness. In 2023, a new chapter will be written in the greening construction of Baoshan. In the whole year, 50 hectares of various green spaces will be built, 30,000 square meters of three-dimensional greening will be completed, and seven kilometers of green-ways will be completed; the second phase of urban quality improvement will be completed in the second half of the year; as for the ecological park belt around Baoshan District, Guchen Road Park (Shenyang Park), and Huzhuang Park will be built by the end of the year, and the early stage of Yangsheng Park, Yuanji Park, and Dahuangcun Park will be started simultaneously, striving to enter the construction site in the second half of 2023.
