On September 28th, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Shanghai University, China Baowu Steel Group Corporation (hereinafter referred to as China Baowu) and Baoshan District People's Government formally signed the Framework Agreement for the Construction of the Main Campus Project of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, Shanghai University in a combined format of online and on-site conference. Chen Qun, vice mayor of Shanghai Municipal Government, Chen Derong, Party secretary and chairman of China Baowu, Wang Ping, deputy secretary of Shanghai Municipal Education and Health Work Party Committee and director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Chen Jie, Secretary of Baoshan District Party Committee, Cheng Danhong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai University, and related leaders of Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Commission and Shanghai Municipal Planning and Resources Bureau attended the signing ceremony. Huang Yongping, deputy secretary-general of Shanghai Municipal Government, presided over the ceremony.

Chen Qun pointed out that according to the 12th Party Congress of Shanghai, it is necessary to promote the prosperity and development of cultural undertakings and cultural and creative industries, striving to build Shanghai into a charming city of humanity. In accordance with the requirements of the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government, we should vigorously and orderly promote the construction of the main campus of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts of Shanghai University, so as to start construction and put it into use as soon as possible.

Shanghai University should give full play to its advantages in comprehensive and multidisciplinary school-running resources, and strive to create a brand of art education with Shanghai characteristics. Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts of Shanghai University should earnestly shoulder the heavy responsibility of cultural innovation and personnel training, so as to promote the higher level development of modern art education in Shanghai, and help build Shanghai into an international cultural metropolis. The Municipal Education Commission should take forward actions, strengthen overall coordination and guarantee corresponding services, and give guidance and support to the construction of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts. Combined with the development plan of "North-South Transformation", the Commission should optimize and improve the supporting facilities around Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, so that artistic creation and regional development can develop together. It is hoped that Baowu Group will, as always, support the construction and development of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, so as to promote the early start of the construction project.

Chen Derong indicated that the main campus of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts of Shanghai University settled in Wusong, Baoshan, which is an inevitable move to enhance cultural confidence with beauty as the medium, an appropriate behavior for central enterprises to practice social responsibility, and a wonderful project for Baoshan to forge ahead in the "North Transformation". Wusong Innovation Town is an important area of "North Transformation". To improve its image, recreate its functions and upgrade its energy level, we need to take the lead in launching a number of pilot, symbolic and functional projects. The project combines inheriting the industrial historical context with activating the source of artistic creation, and integrates cultural creativity with science and technology innovation, which not only has leading and exemplary significance, but also will play an important role in the development of Baoshan's "North Transformation". It is hoped that through this co-construction, China Baowu can make more contributions to Shanghai in "fostering the city spirit, highlighting the city character" and enhancing the city's cultural soft power.

Wang Ping, deputy secretary of Shanghai Municipal Education and Health Work Party Committee and director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Liu Changsheng, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and president of Shanghai University, Wei Yao, member of the Standing Committee of China Baowu Party Committee, and Zheng Yichuan, member of the Standing Committee of Baoshan District Committee and executive deputy head of the district, signed the Framework Agreement for the Construction of the Main Campus Project of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, Shanghai University. The signing of this agreement is an important measure to implement the strategy of the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government to promote the development of North-South Transformation, help Baoshan promote the overall transformation of Wusong Innovation Town and the construction of the core bearing area of the main position of Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Center, and advance the construction of Shanghai as an international cultural metropolis. 

The main campus of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts of Shanghai University is located in the plot of Stainless Steel Mill in Wusong Innovation Town. The renovation of industrial remains contributes to the full integration of historic architecture and modern art. The teaching area covers an area of 180 mu with a building area of more than 220,000 square meters, which is used for education and teaching, scientific research and creation, international cooperation and commercial facilities. At the same time, facilities such as student apartments, canteens and sports fields will be built around, which can accommodate 4,000 students to study and live. The project is scheduled to start construction in 2023 and be officially put into use in 2026.
