In the Baoshan District Youth Activity Center beside the Gucun Park, a model car arena with 3 international standard RC model car racing tracks and 2 practicing and simulation racing tracks has started construction recently. Its scale and conditions rank among the first level in China. It can satisfy the demand of model car enthusiastic youths in Baoshan and Shanghai and also meets the requirements for holding the world tournament, making it a shining namecard of after-school science and technology education in Baoshan. The Arena is expected to be completed and put into operation by the end of this year.

Its biggest racing track covers an area of 2,800m2 and is of nearly 400m long, suitable for flat model car event of 1/8 and 1/10 ratio. It will be the first professional racing track with the multi-point timing induction and the high-precision timing system, which is of the same level with F1 Racing in China, and can make segmented timing for racing cars. The other two racing tracks are for EP touring car and electric off-road vehicle respectively. In the context of the increasingly popular new energy, the high-tech concentrated electric model car will be the first choice for youths in model car activities. The whole arena is exquisite, environmental and professional and greatly integrated into the ecological environment of the Gucun Park.

The Baoshan District Youth Activity Center is beside the Gucun Park and came into operation in 2019 under the support of the Baoshan Government and the Baoshan Education Bureau. It will uphold the educational ideas of Mr. Tao Xingzhi and actively build the “future innovation talent cultivation system” integrated with in and out of school development with the vision of “basing on Shanghai and facing the whole country and the world” and by taking the opportunity of promoting the sports eco-chain development and the family maker incubation construction via science and technology innovation education.

The Center will focus on a series of modern and high-end educational resources and the featured high-quality international broad-field courses under development. When the model car arena and other projects are completed, the Center will greatly improve the quality of science and technology education in Baoshan and become the paradise of cultivating students’ science spirits, increasing their trait of thinking and stimulating their creativity.
